The Motocross Home

Based on the keen interest by you blog friends out there, here's a picture (took it myself) of the "motocross home" as we like to call it. 2 acres of dirt and desert brush in Phelan, CA...oh, and a house is on it, too. By the way, not pictured is the neighbor's 5 acre property with similar track in their backyard! Nothing a neighborly smile and a plate 'o hot cookies from next door can't facilitate! Ah, but we're not quite there yet... still need an offer on our current house so we can get that ball rolling.

I found this 4 mo. pic of Sadie at Lu's blog... I'm being outmaneuvered by technology! "But I still love technology."

I also discovered how we can finance motocross bikes for the whole family plus 1 for a guest (that's a total of 7 right? No problem). I got my "Family Readiness Center" outbriefing today and they told me about jobs for Ang... notably, jobs in the "NAF" realm. The part of the Air Force known as Non-Appropriated Funds... jobs at the barber shop, bowling alley, youth center. Clearly a great opportunity for Ang, and a blessing to all who shall pass through our tubular steel starting gates!

I think there ought to be a faith-based youth motocross camp, that instills Christian values and morals while learning 2-wheeled dirt skills. Draft curriculum soon to follow.

Pray for Offers

Had our 2nd customer walk-through today (of our house for sale). It just takes one good offer, right? God's got it handled so we're just managing our own personal stress levels! :) Thankfully, I scheduled a bunch of outprocessing appointments today, and I got the EXACT time-slot for, well, pretty much EVERY appointment - so that's definitely something to sing about. Lu - Copa Cabana in the key of F - Go!!

Found this picture of Ang, Lane & Mya (or so I thought), right there on the front page of the Air Force's official webpage... too bad it says it's someone else's family at Keesler AFB in Mississippi. I still think it's really them, though! I'm still investigating whether Ang was really where she claims to have been between 2002 and 2003. ;)

I wonder if our future home is somewhere in the background of this picture of Gray Butte airfield. You never know! Tim wants to know why I haven't signed on the dotted line yet for this one house that has a dirt track in the backyard... Should I really bother to wait & see what the inside of the house looks like first??? ;)

Reunion Frenzy

The rumors are true, we're coming home to Chicago for Christmas! 21 people total, if you count both grandparents, both sisters' families, great gramma, and the entire Chippifer-Lynn family!
Chip, I gotta say right now, you gots-ta bring the X-box (my suitcase will be jam-packed with work stuff)! I'm hoping Mike & Beck won't mind furnishing the 2nd X-box & setting up a gaming center for the under-34 crowd (we're saying Vicky is under 34 in this case!)...and bring your oh-so-critical black link cable! Ba-da-ba-DEEE! If I know Chip, he'll show up with the entire Microsoft-brand ninja backpack, untangle the entire wad of controllers and cables only to find out he FORGOT THE POWER CORD!!! (Not that THAT'S ever happened!) It's all about the Team Slaya/GoldnGun w/ unlimited Grenades... that's how you spell a festive holiday.
Wow, it's been awhile since we've been in Chi-town for the holidays. I'm looking forward to warming up from the 10-below temps we have here... and it's only November! Wonder if it's worth it to shove snowpants into everyone's luggage for the sole purpose of being prepared for the chance of favorable sledding conditions in Windy City. We'll see.

30 Days til Last Day of Work in AK!

Yikes... 30 days until my last day of Active Duty work up here (Fri, 15 Dec)! That's unofficial until the Admin folks confirm the exact number of leave days I get, but 3 of us did the math and came up with that day. We'll likely hang out here over that weekend and then fly out early in the following week (approx Mon-Tues 18-19 Dec). Lots n lots to do between now & then... praying that the house gets some interested buyers soon! Rumor has it there might be an influx of army troops to the area (needing homes!). If I was as smart at Chip, I'd have some countdown clock running right here, but I guess I'll have to keep you posted manually! Did I mention we've had 4 days straight of nasty nasty howling winds? Windchill hitting -20 to -30F! Gusting up to 75mph tonight. Keeps waking us up. Hope the fence holds... I've seen some other not-so-lucky fences in the neighborhood.

Here's a pic from when the kids played at Matthew's house last Friday. The girls asked if he had any "girl dress-up" and, when he didn't, they made do with superheroes and firemen!
